As previously mentioned, I had to stop in Flagstaff to do laundry. While I was doing that, I installed the new graphics card in my beloved G5. It seems to work... I've been running for about 45 minutes now, and it hasn't locked up.
Of course, the real proof will be when I come back from Colorado, and try to play WoW.
Speaking of Colorado... I need to hit the road. Incommunicado for a few days, gang!
I have an eMac g3/700. It's been with me since I restarted college --
lapis_lazuli bought it for me that summer, and it's written many papers and viewed lots of web pages for me. Now, however, the hard drive has died. And, unlike the hard drive in either my iBook or my G5 tower, the hard drive in an eMac is not considered a user-replaceable part.
I did some research, and it turns out one has to take the damn thing completely apart, complete with electrocution risk if you leave it plugged in, and static risk if you don't. So... yeah. It's toast. Alas.
I still don't know what's wrong with the G5. I'll have to take it to the folks at SimuTek, as there doesn't seem to be an Apple authorized service center up here. Which means, for the next two weeks, I'll be down to just the iBook... which has a bad external power supply, and I have no idea when it's going to go down completely.
Of course, there are the computer lab computers, but....
And yes... after sleeping for twelve hours last night, I'm now up at 2:30 in the fraking morning.
