Cowboy R and the Cinematic Redo

I'm in Tucson. Today, [info]lysander_cat and his lovely wife had the day off, so we started the day at the breakfast place we frequent, and then went for some cinematic entertainment. We watched The Day the Earth Stood Still, which, of course, is a remake. The original is one of the great classics of black and white science fiction. Did it need to be remade? Not particularly, in my opinion. How was the remake? Not bad... some nice effects, and the alien was more scary in some ways than the original Klaatu.

In the evening, [info]lysander_cat and I went to play D&D with the Usual Suspects. K was ill, and didn't play, and as a result, we had a very difficult evening of it. She's playing the healer, and without healing....

Anyway, part way through the evening, Park Ranger Girl texted and asked what I was doing. I explained that I was D&Ding with the Usual Suspects, and she expressed interest. So we may be having a D&D game in Flagstaff next semester. I'm kind of polling a few of my other friends to see if anyone's interested. It'll be nice if it works out.

Plus? Park Ranger Girl initiated contact with me! It's been a while since anyone outside of the Usual Suspects did that. (And no, [info]satharn, that doesn't make you chopped liver; it makes you one of the Usual Suspects).

So. Now, to find warm PJs and head for bed. It's supposed to hit freezing tonight, here in the Little Big Heat. Fortunately, I have blankets. Yay, blankets!
